Integrating DECA into Marketing Education

Each year, the advisors of Washington DECA nominate and select one of their peers who have gone above and beyond supporting Washington DECA and preparing students for area, state and international competition.

For 2011, Dennis Rockwood from Inglemoor High School was selected as the Advisor of the Year.

Dennis Rockwood spent several years as a sales executive prior to his second career as a marketing educator and DECA Advisor. He serves as the facilities liaison for his area, is a leader in written testing for the state conference, and has created the demand for a full time IB business and marketing program making the Inglemoor chapter a dual DECA Advisor program. His personal success, dedication, energy and work ethic provide an outstanding example for his students. Never willing to settle for mediocrity, this teacher continues to illustrate that combining hard work with knowledge is a proven way to achieve outstanding results.

Please nominate a DECA advisor for this year’s Advisor of the Year Award. Only DECA Advisors may nominate an advisor for this award. All nominations must be submitted to Shanna LaMar, shanna@wadeca.org by Friday, January 27, 2012.
