ABOUT FALL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE
The Fall Leadership Conference (FLC) is a hands-on experience that familiarizes students with DECA, generating excitement and momentum leading in to their DECA year. Students attend a wide variety of dynamic breakout sessions led by key business professionals, DECA advisors, and Washington DECA staff. They also have the unique opportunity to practice their knowledge and skills during Mock Competition and a Mock (job) Interview. At the Marketing Fair, students network with exhibitors who are showcasing fundraising opportunities, school-based enterprise products, higher education institutions, and more. Each chapter is invited to select two student leaders to attend the Chapter Leadership Academy led by their peers—the Washington DECA State Officer Team.
MOCK COMPETITION MAKES A DIFFERENCE!
Mock Competition gives students an opportunity to experience competition without any stage/score pressure. The competition is an Individual Series Event role play, developed by a former DECA advisor with more than 35 years of marketing education experience. The judges' roles are defined, and they are asked to provide feedback to help students gain a better understanding of how to present themselves in competition. After FLC, the role play scenario will be available to advisors who attend FLC to use as a competition prep tool after the conference.
Nearly twice as many students who attended FLC advanced to SCDC in an Individual Series Event compared to students who did not attend the conference.
Significantly more students who attended FLC advanced to SCDC in a Team Decision Making Event compared to students who did not attend the conference.
